Neiman Marcus is closing its Ala Moana Center store in Honolulu, Hawaii, as Saks Global continues restructuring efforts following a period of financial instability. The closure, announced Friday, will complete the luxury retailer’s nearly three-decade presence at the state’s largest shopping mall.
Saks Global, which acquired Neiman Marcus for nearly $3 billion over a year ago, filed for bankruptcy in January, according to the Associated Press. The Ala Moana closure is part of a broader plan to shutter 15 stores nationwide, as the company grapples with rising competition and significant debt.
The Neiman Marcus store at Ala Moana Center is a three-story department store selling high-end apparel, designer handbags, shoes, jewelry, beauty products, and home goods. The closure will impact the Ala Moana Center, where Neiman Marcus has been an anchor tenant for 28 years.
This decision follows the closure of Saks Fifth Avenue stores at Ala Moana Center and Waikele Premium Outlets in February. Saks Global did not initially provide a specific closing date for the Neiman Marcus location, but has indicated the store will be closed by the end of May, according to KITV.
The closures are part of a larger restructuring effort by Saks Global, which is attempting to streamline operations and address financial challenges. The company announced the closures of both Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue locations on March 6, 2026, as detailed in a portfolio of closing locations.
