Copenhagen Fashion Week starts on Monday, August 7th, 2023 and Saks Potts also presents a show for their Spring Summer 2024 womenswear collection. The designers Cathrine Saks and Barbara Potts have once again been inspired by the Danish summer and especially the nature there. They specifically chose the location, the iconic “Cafe Jorden Rundt”, which is shaped by their childhood memories.

The Danish summer

The show takes place right by the water, even when the weather is fresh, so guests take care with umbrellas while looking at summer clothing inspired by Danish nature. That’s fitting because Saks Potts associates the Danish summer with unpredictable weather and rain and believes you should enjoy every ray of sunshine, especially since it could be your last. This is reflected in the variations of clothing in her spring-summer collection. There are airy cuts and the odd bikini top, but there are also long-sleeved jackets and even coats similar to rain jackets.

Typisch Scandinavian Chick

Half of the collection shows itself as a typically Nordic woman. Casual looks consisting of blouses, airy dresses, shirting and jeans appear primarily in various shades of blue, grey, beige and yellow. Together, the pieces literally scream for the Scandinavian Chick: halter necks, maxi skirts, wide-leg jeans and shirts combined with sandals, pointed heels and either large shopper bags or a mini tote. If you look closely, you will find exciting details in the looks that are already popular and suitable for everyday use. Leather trousers suddenly look like classic jeans thanks to the denim print. And a strictly tailored blazer and knee-length pleated skirts made of leather or wool are reminiscent of the 90s, which fashion is happy to return to. Saks Potts brings us both unique and timeless clothing in this collection. This is how the two designers seem to interpret the Danish summer. But it goes on.

Scandinavian Chick in Emrata dress

The other half then corresponds to the Scandinavian Chick on a hot summer holiday in the south. Because suddenly dopamine colors shine and beautifully fluttering silk chiffon dresses draw everyone’s attention. Whether in bright green, orange or magenta. The popular halterneck also remains. The dresses and maxi skirts end before the ankle, so that the kitten heels, whether sandals or booties, can enjoy their appearance. The looks are automatically ’90s and early 2000s’ – fashionable and reminiscent of an era full of supermodels and it girls. By the way, the Emrata dress, which was designed for Emily Ratajkowski, is also included. She wore it to Marc Jacobs’ 50th anniversary party in 2019. We also see something new: long-sleeved tops combined with panties by Carmen De Baets and fanny packs. Or a swimsuit with a halterneck and a daring cut-out to the stomach and high heels. There is something for every occasion, from day trips to pool parties and elegant dinners. The 2024 summer collection from Saks Potts is changeable and varied and will be available from February.
