Salzburg: Days of searching for a holiday guest ended unsuccessfully

“We searched the entire mountain trail, several gorges and high alpine terrain,” reported the district manager of the mountain rescue service in Pongau, Gerhard Kremser, in a broadcast. Because the hiking trails in the region are currently heavily used, the emergency services concentrated primarily on the edges of the paths and areas away from the hiking trails. “Unfortunately, there was no evidence of the missing person.”

Missing since July 30th

The Czech came to Bad Hofgastein on July 29 as a holiday guest. The hostess saw him for the last time in the morning of July 30. The next day he was gone. The operator of the guest house then informed the police. Several search operations by mountain rescue, dog unit and fire brigade followed. In the previous week, the water rescue also searched the Gasteiner Ache, including a gorge and a waterfall, and the Salzach up to the Schwarzach power plant.

The man’s mobile phone was last logged on in the Gastein Valley on July 30th. The daughter of the missing person also found some saved hiking destinations on her father’s laptop. “We searched these paths and the area in their immediate vicinity – and much more – today,” said Kremser. If no new clues emerge, according to the alpine police, there should be no further search for the time being.
