On Wednesday evening, the Salzburg professional fire brigade, the water rescue service, the Red Cross and the police were deployed on the Salzach.
Passers-by thought they saw a canoe or kayak in the Lehen sol zone and alerted the emergency services. The result was a large-scale operation. The police arrived with a helicopter that illuminated the spot. The avoidable kayak turned out to be flotsam. The operation was then aborted.
