According to the man, the battery of a cell phone had flown into the garbage chute. With the help of a rope ladder from the nearby playground, he climbed into the shaft with a diameter of 40 to 50 cm, but the shaft was deeper than expected, the man fell down and then couldn’t get out. This is reported by Horst Reiter, who led the operation at the professional fire department. “We let down a colleague who is very slim and pulled the man out with a seat belt and a turntable ladder.” Reiter speaks of a strange situation; it was a first for the professional fire department. What made it more difficult was that the man didn’t speak German.
