Alfredo Cohen, president of Constructora Sambil, reported that the Sambil de La Candelaria could open its doors to the public between the end of 2022 and May 2023.

This was stated during an interview in Wave The Superstationin which he commented that during the recovery of the establishment “not only does construction company Sambil benefit.”

On Thursday it was learned that the Sambil construction company regained control of the infrastructure built in La Candelaria, 14 years after its expropriation.

«In 2006 we sold more than 100 businesses to small and medium businesses who invested with us. And now we have the opportunity to give them back their stores,” said the also president of the Venezuelan Chamber of Shopping Centers.

Cohen stated that “the Sambil de La Candelaria was never expropriated because it was never legally in the hands of the government.”

And he added: “They had the occupation of the property while the expropriation process was carried out, which thank God never happened.”

He commented that a return process has been initiated for several companies nationwide, although he did not give details.

Conditions of the Sambil La Candelaria

Regarding the conditions of the structure, Cohen stressed that “the people who lived there for 13 years did so in the parking area. They did not have access to the mall’s infrastructure.”

In this sense, he said that despite being in the process of expropriation, the construction company “went to work, activated the water pumps and built bathrooms so that people could be in more dignified conditions.”

“At that time, even classrooms were built because there were many affected children there in 2009,” he said.
