Samsung Display and LG Display introduced next-generation OLED (organic light-emitting diode) technology at ‘IMID 2022’, an international information display conference being held in BEXCO, Busan for four days from the 23rd.

Samsung Display announced on the 24th that it unveiled OLED for 77-inch TVs for the first time at an exhibition hosted by the Society.

Samsung Display, which started mass production of large OLED panels last year, released an OLED panel for 34-inch monitors and an OLED panel for 65-55-inch TVs earlier this year, and this time introduced a 77-inch panel, heralding the expansion of its lineup.

Samsung Display is currently supplying OLED panels for TVs to Samsung Electronics and Sony. Accordingly, it is expected that Samsung Electronics will expand its OLED TV lineup to 77 inches following the existing 65 and 55 inches.

In addition, Samsung Display introduced next-generation OLED panels such as ‘Flex S’ that folds in and out in an S-shape, ‘Flex G’ that folds inward in a G-shape twice, and foldable OLED for gaming at this exhibition.

Samsung Display presented about 70 excellent papers on display technology such as foldable OLED at this conference.

LG Display also published about 10 excellent papers on next-generation display technologies such as large OLEDs.

LG Display representatively introduced ‘OLED.EX’ technology applied to OLED TV panels released this year.

The company explained that the next-generation OLED TV panel with ‘heavy hydrogen technology’ and ‘personalization algorithm’ applied to organic light emitting devices can increase screen brightness (luminance) by 30% compared to the existing ones, and improve color expression.

He also introduced a number of research results of artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning technologies that can improve display performance and production efficiency.

LG Display will set up an exhibition booth at the IMID event site and will display next-generation OLED products such as transparent OLED panels, AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality) OLEDs, including the largest ’97-inch OLED TV panel’ among existing OLEDs. did.
