Samsung Electronics has issued a formal apology for the recent spate of glass door breaks on its tumble washing machines and has begun providing free door replacement services.
“Recently, there have been instances where the door glass on some Samsung Electronics tumble washing machine models has come off due to poor adhesion,” the company said in an apology posted on the sites. A consumer wrote on an Internet community: “I bought a Samsung Electronics drum washing machine four months ago. The glass door of the washing machine fell on the floor and broke while it was running.” As related information spread, the Korea Consumer Agency and the Korea Technology and Standards Agency sent official letters on August 17 asking Samsung Electronics to explain the matter.
Accordingly, Samsung Electronics held talks with the Consumer Agency and Korea Agency for Technology and Standards and decided to provide free door replacement service. The free service will cover Samsung drum washers produced in Korea from September 2021 to May 2022.
