SEOUL (Archyde.com) – Samsung Electronics said on Wednesday its operating profit was expected to fall 78 percent in the third quarter as a semiconductor glut led to big losses for the group.
The world’s largest chip and smartphone maker estimated its operating profit for the July-September period to be 2.4 trillion won (1.68 billion euros) compared to 10.85 trillion won the previous year. .
The group said in a statement that its revenue is likely to reach 67 trillion won in the third quarter, down 13 percent from the same period last year.
Samsung plans to report detailed quarterly results later this month.
