Samsung has officially launched its newest smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, across 106 markets globally, bringing hardware improvements and running the Wear OS 7-based One UI Watch 9 software out of the box.
Under-the-Hood Engineering and the Snapdragon Wear Elite
At the architectural core of both the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is a faster processor, the Snapdragon Wear Elite.
The standard Galaxy Watch 9 comes in two form factors—40mm and 44mm—and offers a choice between Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + Cellular (LTE) variants. Samsung redesigned the watch strap to offer better breathability and all-day comfort. It also packs a slightly bigger battery than its predecessor, packaged within Cream, Graphite, and Silver color options.
Pricing for the 40mm Wi-Fi-only model starts at $379.99 pre-tax in the USA, €379 in Europe, AU$649 in Australia, INR 38,999 in India, and KRW 499,000 in South Korea. Moving up to the 40mm LTE variant brings the price to $429.99 in the USA, €429 in Europe, AU$749 in Australia, INR 43,999 in India, and KRW 529,100 in South Korea. The larger 44mm Wi-Fi-only version is priced at $409.99 in the USA, €409 in Europe, AU$699 in Australia, INR 42,999 in India, and KRW 539,000 in South Korea. Finally, the 44mm LTE model runs $459.99 in the USA, €459 in Europe, AU$799 in Australia, INR 46,999 in India, and KRW 569,800 in South Korea.
Rugged Pro-Grade Metrics for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2
Targeting extreme environments and endurance athletes, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 steps up the durability game. It features a titanium case front, an IP69K rating for high-pressure dust and water resistance, and an EN13319 rating specifically certified for diving applications.
Unlike its non-Ultra sibling, the Ultra 2 ships in a single 47mm size with Wi-Fi + Cellular connectivity built in as standard. It features a significantly larger 800mAh battery paired with a thinner, more comfortable strap design.
Retail pricing for the 47mm LTE Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 lands at $699.99 pre-tax in the USA, €749 in Europe, AU$1,299 in Australia, INR 69,999 in India, and KRW 969,100 in South Korea.
