Samsung Galaxy XCover 6 Pro: Robust outdoor cell phone presented

With the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro, Samsung has introduced a new outdoor smartphone that is designed to withstand extreme weather conditions and falls. In addition, the hardware has been significantly upgraded compared to the predecessors.

In a press release Samsung announced a new model of the XCover series. Like its predecessors, it should XCover 6 Pro be particularly resistant and therefore suitable for outdoor use. The housing of the smartphone is designed for this MIL-STD-810H secured against shocks, temperature fluctuations and other environmental influences. Furthermore, the device is after IP68-Standard protected from water and dust – despite replaceable batteries. That’s right, Samsung will actually be releasing a device with a removable battery in 2022. This has a capacity of 4.050 mAh and features a POGO charging function.

On the technical side, the South Koreans have clearly turned the screws. An unspecified person is now at work inside Octa core processor, which is manufactured using the 6 Nm process. This is supported by 6 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of internal memory. The storage can be expanded using a microSD card. The new hardware should bring a significant performance boost and improve the general user experience. As the first model in the series, the Xcover 6 Pro also has a modern 5G-Modem.

Dual camera system and 120 Hz

The front accommodates all of that 6.6 inch large TFT display, which is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. The panel has a FullHD resolution and offers a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The whole thing is interrupted by a teardrop notch that houses a 13 MP front camera. Furthermore, a dual camera system consisting of a 50 MP main sensor and an 8 MP ultra wide-angle camera can be found on the back.

Ab July 2022 the Samsung Galaxy XCover 6 Pro is sold at a recommended retail price of 609 Euro be available. At this point, the device will be updated with the currently current Android 12 delivered, with Samsung offering version upgrades for four years. Security patches should in turn appear for at least five years.
