Samsung Latin America celebrates a year in the gamer universe with more than 1 million visits

Samsung Latin America celebrates one year of its first Smart City island, in the game Fortnite; and since then, two other digital environments have been developed: the House of SAM, in Decentraland, and the Gaming House, inside the Surprise City island, also in Fortnite. Together, all of Samsung’s initiatives in the gaming universe have accumulated more than one million visits and interactions from young Latino audiences, especially those born since 1990 (Generation Z).

All of these actions aim to interact with young Samsung consumers. “We have a lot to celebrate! We explored a field that is new not only for us, and we had a positive result after a year since the first action. The success in terms of the number of accesses is a sign that we are making further progress in dialogue with Generation Z”, comments Arthur Wong, Samsung’s senior director of marketing for Latin America.

Marking its entry into the world of gaming, Samsung developed the Smart City, in Fortnite, in August 2022. The space is made up of elements that refer to Samsung products, such as buildings shaped like the Galaxy Z Fold5 smartphone, bridges inspired by the Galaxy Z Flip5, and towers outlined like the Galaxy Watch6 line of smartwatches. There, the S Pen is also represented as a large obelisk, and The Freestyle portable projector is a giant spotlight.

Still in Fortnite, on Surprise City, a famous island in this RP (Role Playing) style metaverse, which recreates a simulation of life on an open map with various possibilities, Samsung created the Gaming House – such as mini games and interaction between visitors.

In Decentraland, the brand developed the House of SAM, a place for users to have the true Samsung brand connectivity experience. The home is connected through the SmartThings system, a platform that controls smart electronic devices and other devices, creating automated routines that make the user’s life easier. Furthermore, the House of SAM entertained visitors with events. There were 65 different attractions, including shows, broadcasting of championships, parties hosted by popular DJs, talk shows with famous people, among others.

In that first year, Samsung launched five mini games, most notably ECO Run S23. The game takes sustainability from the Galaxy S23 5G smartphone. In the format of a treasure hunt, in which participants search for recyclable materials and allocate them correctly for recycling.

Samsung also created eight NFT models: Team Galaxy Jacket, Awesome Jacket, SAM Galaxy Skin, Freestyle Cap Flip Wings, S-pen Light Saber, S23 Sneaker and Galaxy A Battery Backpack. In total, four thousand NFTs were distributed.
