Samsung reinforces ESG initiatives with the launch of the EcoTroca program in the online store

Action encourages sustainable disposal of electronics and household appliances in favor of the environment

To encourage the correct and sustainable disposal of old appliances and electronics, Samsung is launching the Samsung EcoTrocawhich gives consumers the possibility to exchange their equipment – ​​of any brand and in any condition – for a discount coupon on products purchased at Samsung’s official store.

“The Samsung EcoTroca program was created to make the life cycle of an electronic product even more sustainable, bringing benefits to the consumer, who can receive a voucher discount and save money when changing your equipment for a more modern and efficient one, and also for the planet, since the disposal made by Samsung aims to reduce the impacts on the environment and promote the circular economy by destine each piece for recycling in the same way correct”, explains Thiago César, marketing director of the Consumer Electronics Division of Samsung Brazil.

The Samsung EcoTroca program has been active since the beginning of February. To participate, just access to schedule the delivery of the old product and check the possibility of obtaining the discount voucher at the official Samsung store. In fridges and washing machines it is possible to get a discount of up to R$3,000. For air conditioners up to R$500, for TVs the discount is 10%.

Samsung already makes available to customers, through the Re+ program, launched in Brazil in 2017, 350 collection points throughout Brazil for small and medium-sized electronics, in addition to scheduling the collection of large appliances of any brand. The initiative is part of Samsung’s actions aimed at the ESG agenda, with a focus on sustainable development and social responsibility.

In the first half of 2022, Samsung increased by almost 190% the number of electronics and appliances collected in Brazil, compared to the same period in 2021. Since its beginning in the country, tons of electronic equipment of all sizes and brands have been collected, from batteries, cables and chargers, to smartphones, tablets, notebooks and even TVs and refrigerators.

Brazil is the pioneer country in the EcoTroca Program initiative, which will also be expanded to countries like Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile and Argentina.
