A Samsung Display filed a lawsuit against the BOE Technology in which it accuses the competing company of infringing five of its patents for OLED screensOrganic light-emitting diodeor organic light-emitting diode.”>1 that are used in mobile devices — including some used in the manufacture of displays for products of the Applelike the iPhone 12.

According to the Archyde.com, the company filed a request in a federal court in the state of Texas (United States) to recognize damages for infringements of patents relating to OLED screens supplied by BOE; it also requested a halt to imports and sales of such parts.

In the lawsuit, Samsung claims that it “suffered and will continue to suffer” irreparable damage caused by the violation of patent 599, which deals with a technology to improve the image quality of a device.

Having overtaken LG to take second place in the OLED display market share last year, BOE has been establishing itself as a behemoth in the segment, which is still dominated by Samsung.

The company is not the first to be targeted by the South Korean company. At the end of last year, Samsung even filed a complaint with the International Trade Commission (International Trade Commission) alleging the illegal use of its patents by several companies manufacturing OLED screens.

Even a former Samsung executive was the subject of a complaint after allegedly stealing technology from his former company and delivering it to a Chinese factory of counterfeit products.

Returning to the case involving BOE, neither Samsung nor Apple have publicly commented on the matter.
