At the beginning of the year, at CES 2022, Samsung presented curved monitor Odyssey Neo G8. Firstly, the manufacturer said that the Odyssey Neo G8 will receive a recommended price tag of $1500. In the US market, the novelty should appear in June. Back in January of this year, it was known that the Odyssey Neo G8 will offer a 31.5-inch screen with a 1000R curvature radius, 1ms response time and Quantum Mini LED backlight. Today, the manufacturer clarified that the display contains 1196 local backlight zones. This results in a dynamic screen contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, while the panel offers 4,096 backlight settings. Peak screen brightness is 2000 cd/m2and typical – 350 cd / m2. The display is certified according to the DisplayHDR 1000 standard.

The novelty also supports AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-Sync technologies, is equipped with two HDMI 2.1 connectors, one DisplayPort 1.4 and a set of two USB 3.0 Type-A. The monitor stand is ergonomic and allows you to adjust the height, tilt and swivel of the screen, as well as the orientation (portrait/horizontal). In keeping with the gaming nature of the entire Odyssey monitor series, the Neo G8 comes with RGB lighting that can be synchronized with other PC components.

The manufacturer is also preparing to release the younger model Odyssey Neo G7. It also has a 31.5-inch size, 4K support, Quantum Mini LED backlighting with 1196 local dimming zones, but supports “only” 165Hz refresh rates. The typical display brightness of the Odyssey Neo G7 is the same 350 cd/m2. But the peak is half as much as that of the Odyssey Neo G8 model and is 1000 cd / m2.

Most of the other characteristics of the Odyssey Neo G7 are similar to the older model. Here is a curved screen with a radius of curvature of 1000R, and the same dynamic contrast ratio, response time, compatibility with Adaptive-Sync technology, as well as an identical set of connectors. An additional distinguishing feature between the models is their color. The Odyssey Neo G7 will come in black, while the Odyssey Neo G8 will come in white. Unfortunately, nothing is known about the cost and availability of the younger model.
