Small actions can have a big impact. As citizens of the planet, we all have a responsibility to care for people and our home, Earth.
That’s why, in 2019, Samsung Electronics teamed up with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to launch the Samsung Global Goals (SGG) app. With SGG, the Galaxy community can donate directly to the Global Goals, increase ad earnings using lock screens, and generate funds by watching in-app ads. The SGG app helps users better understand the Global Goals and contribute funds to the ones that matter most to them.
With the app’s new Donation Leaderboard feature, Samsung is opening up new opportunities for the Galaxy community to actively participate in the Global Goals. By establishing a ranking system for donations, the Donation Leaderboard is encouraging users to donate towards the Goals, tracking the progress of donations and motivating friends, family and other Galaxy users to do the same.

Accessed via the Donate section of the Samsung Global Goals app, the Donation Leaderboard1 (Donation Leaderboard) displays the amount users have donated to specific Global Goals, as well as their donation ranking position relative to other users in their country or around the world2. By providing greater visibility into donation history, Samsung hopes to motivate users in the Galaxy community to improve their ranking of donations, thereby contributing to the progress of the Global Goals.

The Samsung Global Goals app has been a powerful way for the Galaxy community to work together and support the Global Goals. Just a few months ago, a new giving milestone was reached, with $10 million raised so far through the app and donated to help UNDP build resilience and accelerate the evolution of the Goals. Samsung hopes the Donation Leaderboard will continue this momentum by providing a new, fun and interactive way for the Galaxy community to contribute to the Goals most relevant to them. To date, Galaxy users have directed the most donations to Goal 2: Zero Hunger, followed by Goal 1: Eradication of Poverty, and Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.

The Global Goals, established in 2015, are a set of 17 goals that world leaders have agreed to achieve by 2030. These goals have the power to stop climate change, tackle inequality, eradicate poverty and address other pressing global challenges. To achieve them, we need to accelerate our individual and collective effort.
Samsung is committed to using the power of technology to provide opportunities for the Galaxy community to take action in support of the Global Goals. Together, we have the power to create meaningful change. Visit the Samsung Global Goals app to advance towards the Goals that matter most to you.
