He continued, “I think black people usually win by doing heinous shit on screen. Like Denzel Washington for being a terrible cop in Training Day. All the great stuff he did in great roles like Malcolm X? No — we’re giving it to this motherfucker.”
Pulp Fiction is the only film Jackson has been nominated for an Oscar for. Martin Landau won against Jackson for his role in Ed Wood.
The actor also said he felt he should have been nominated for an Oscar for his role in Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever. That year, the award went to fellow actor Jack Palance.
“So maybe I should have won one,” he continued. “But Oscars don’t move the comma on your check — it’s about getting asses in seats, and I did that well.”

In the same interview, Jackson also commented that controversial podcaster Joe Rogan used the N-word in several episodes of his Spotify podcast. “He says no one understood the context when he said it,” the ” Pulp Fiction” actor, at which point he rolled his eyes, according to the interviewer.
“But he shouldn’t have said it. It’s not the context, dude – it’s that he was comfortable with it. Say you’re sorry because you want to keep your money, but you had fun and did it because it was entertaining.”
Spotify was criticized after the streaming service did not want to delete the podcaster’s corona-denying and downplaying content. As a result, several well-known artists, led by musician Neil Young, withdrew their music from Spotify and called for a boycott of Spotify.
