The manager of Samy’s diner in Albi (Tarn) wants to bring people together for New Year’s Eve. For the first time this year, “shared tables” will be installed in its establishment, reports Ouest-France.

For New Year’s Eve, this restaurateur took on the challenge of bringing his customers together. In his establishment, Samy’s diner in Albi (Tarn), Adrien Martin offers shared tables for New Year’s Eve. A first that seduces, reports West France.

The manager had this idea when an old lady, who came to lunch, looked at a flyer for the New Year’s Eve party. “Elle […] seemed interested in cabaret and DJing. When I offered to book, she told me she didn’t want to because she was alone”, remembers Adrien Martin. After a glance at his reservations, the thirty-year-old notes that this year, for New Year’s Eve, customers will mainly come in pairs. “I called them back to offer to share their table. They all accepted!”rejoices Adrien Martin.

From 30 to 70 years old

At least three large tables of 10 to 15 seats will be set up for the occasion. Single people and couples can sit there. The restaurateur has people in their thirties as well as people in their 70s.

Three years after the start of the covid-19 pandemic, these “shared tables” allow us to find conviviality again. “At the time, we had to space the tables apart and we couldn’t accommodate too many customers. Today, it’s the opposite. I bring the tables closer together to meet people!” exclaims Adrien Martin. And the concept could have a bright future ahead of it: “I imagine a table called ‘Les amis du Samy’s’ so that single people can come and eat and meet other people.”
