Engineered for modern private clouds, small businesses, and creative professionals, the 7.68TB NVMe model boasts a 14,000 TBW rating to handle punishing, around-the-clock workloads.

Shifting Workloads Demand New Architecture

Storage demands inside modern network-attached storage environments have evolved past simple file archiving. According to Sandisk, prosumers, creative teams, and small businesses now manage larger datasets, run local artificial intelligence workflows, and require 24/7 system availability.

Traditional mechanical hard disk drives simply cannot keep pace with these multi-user collaborative demands. By moving to all-flash or hybrid arrays, IT administrators eliminate mechanical bottlenecks. SanDisk structured its new lineup to bridge this gap, offering both SATA drop-in replacements and PCIe 5.0 performance tiers.

“The way users employ NAS has fundamentally changed,” said Anil Moolchandani, vice president of product management at Sandisk. “Today’s prosumers, creative professionals, and small businesses are managing larger datasets, collaborating across teams, and relying on systems that need to perform around the clock.”

The hardware breakdown reveals two distinct engineering approaches tailored to different eras of hardware deployment. The Sandisk NAS 600 SATA SSD targets users modernizing NAS by replacing HDDs with SSDs or accelerating by adding a solid-state cache or tier, while the Sandisk NAS 800 NVMe SSD leverages high-speed PCIe 5.0 lanes for caching, storage tiering, or as primary storage.

Meanwhile, the NVMe variant scales aggressively. Built with SanDisk TLC 3D NAND, the 7.68TB capacity reaches 14 petabytes written (PBW). Lower capacities also ensure that sustained database queries, virtualization clusters, and agentic AI pipelines perform in demanding NAS environments.

Both product lines hit global retail and e-tail channels in September via Sandisk.com and select distributors. Entry pricing starts at $179.99 U.S. MSRP for the 500GB NAS 600 SATA SSD. The NAS 800 NVMe SSD starts at $309.99 U.S. MSRP for the 960GB model, scaling up to the 7.68TB edition.
