The Government of Santa Fe analyzes extending until March 2024 the situation of state of emergency or agricultural disaster in the province, in order to facilitate the continuity of the new production cycles, after the intense drought registered until the beginning of the current year that caused damage in around 14,000 enterprises.

The administration of Omar Perotti has the subject is a study in the Provincial Commission for Agricultural Emergency, chaired by the Minister of Production, Daniel Costamagna, who has already recommended to the Executive Power to extend the tax benefits of aid to the sector.

Although the drought has ended, its effects continue to create difficulties and, given the start of planting winter crops and the logical decrease in feed for livestock, the Commission considered that the scope of decree number 627/23 should be extended.

The ratification of this norm will allow to extend the term of the tax benefits of all agricultural producers that have obtained certificates of agricultural disaster, which will remain automatically.

In this sense, Minister Costamagna mentioned that the extension will serve to “give continuity to the new production cycles” and ratify the “commitment” of his management to the agricultural sector, “which is strategic for the province and the country.”

The Secretary of Agrifood, MarĂa Eugenia Carrizo, specified that since the emergency was declared in January 2022, “more than 9,500 producers presented around 14,000 affidavits of damages and more than 10,000 certificates have already been issued.”

“This number of affected producers demonstrates the intensity that this drought has had throughout the province,” added the official.
