Santiago Simari went viral in August 2023 when he was crowned on television: $15,000,000 earned in five consecutive appearances on “Los 8 Escalones”, a situation that led him to become the record participant of the program.
Last night, the 19-year-old earned another $10,000,000 after defeating Ludmila and Ignacio in a competition to see who is the “winner of the winners.” In six months, Santiago earned $25,000,000 and decided to give much of the money to his parents.

After winning his first $15,000,000, Santiago spoke with TN and expressed his desire to buy a kiosk with a group of friends. “We have to sharpen the pencil,” he said. In a new contact with this medium, he revealed that that idea – for the moment – did not prosper.
“I spoke with the real estate agency and we even went to see the kiosk. But due to price fluctuations it was very difficult. Besides, the elections were coming and we didn’t know what was going to happen. I still have the idea of investing in something, but now it is very complicated,” she indicated.

After collecting the first $15,000,000, the Political Science student at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) decided to save part of it and use the rest to buy a 2012 Ford Ka car.
“It’s in my name, but I gave it to my parents so they can get to and from work. They wake up early to take my sister to school and come back very late. And they sold the car they had to pay a lot of debts that they accumulated during the pandemic by not being able to open their business,” she explained.
The gift he will give his parents with the new prize
Santiago’s parents own a bar located meters from the Casa Rosada: they have no employees and are in charge of all the tasks, to the point that they cannot even take vacations.

“January is a month that is difficult for them because many people are on vacation. Now they were able to lift and are better, but logically they depend on the movement of the center. In any case, everything remains complicated,” said Santiago.
And he added: “They both work in the bar and have no one to leave it to, so they can’t afford to close it. Added to that is the economic situation that prevents them from going on vacation, taking into account that we are four brothers and we all live together.”

Although his parents do not yet know it, Santiago hopes to collect the $10,000,000 to give his entire family a trip: “It could be Córdoba or some province in the North. Surely they are going to be very happy,” he explained.
“I will add the rest to savings. I still want to invest in something, set up a kiosk or sell clothes. I have to do numbers and feel that what I do is profitable. For now I use that money to help my parents. I thought about becoming independent too, but today the goal is to lend a hand at home,” she added.

During these hours, Santiago experiences an exhibition to which he is not accustomed: they stop him on the street, they recognize him and they even ask for photos. “My parents want me to be cautious and not make so much noise, that’s why I didn’t give myself any pleasure with the money I earned.”
Santiago’s dream: to be president of the Nation
After winning the $15,000,000, Santiago told TN that he is working to one day be president of the Nation.
“I work as an advisor in the Penitentiary Procuratorate, which is a control body for penitentiary establishments. Usually my days start at 7:30: I go to the office three times and work from home two more times,” he said.

“The issue of the presidency, which is what I said in the program that I had as a goal, is something that of course I understand is complicated, that it takes time. But as I always say, all my training, my studies, my work and my preparation goes in that direction,” said Santiago.
“Why do I want to be president? Since I was little I really like history. Then politics, until we understand basic notions. So I know I can help. I want to be president to transform the reality of the country, especially in a situation where the majority have a very bad time,” he concluded.
