Saudi Arabia – The inventor of the Saudi robot “Sara” revealed that his design interacts with humans without talking about sex or politics at all.
Elie Mitri, CEO of QSS AI & Robots, based in Riyadh, said, “Sarah knows that she is a 25-year-old girl, 1.62 cm tall, and wears Saudi clothes.”
Mitri added: “She should be nice, not talk about politics, and not talk about sex because we are in Saudi Arabia.” You should not delve into these topics.”
Sarah, who wears the traditional modest Saudi abaya, speaks Arabic and English, and uses the company’s language learning model, an artificial intelligence program designed to recognize and generate text and speech, after being trained on a huge set of data.
Speaking to Business Insider, Mitri said: “We don’t rely on anyone else’s libraries, not even ChatGPT.”
Mitri said that the robot “Sara” received widespread attention after its appearance in many technical exhibitions, which effectively highlighted the progress achieved by Saudi Arabia in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence.
However, an incident went viral earlier this month involving the company’s “Mohamed” robot, which appeared to accidentally touch a female reporter’s buttocks. “While humans talk, we move our hands, and we are not mannequins,” Mitri said. “It’s the same for a robot.”
He also made it clear that he was not worried about the incident, and added: “The strange thing is that in the entire Middle East, even in Saudi Arabia, no one saw this as a bad thing because they knew it was a robot.”
