The Saudi Aviation Investigation Office revealed that, this morning, Tuesday, it received a report that a light sports aircraft of the “Teknam” model with registration (HZ-BAD1) had an accident after taking off from Al-Thumama Airport.
The office said in a statement that preliminary information indicated that the plane took off from Al-Thumama Airport at about 6:30 am, with its pilot, a “trainee pilot” of Saudi nationality, on a training flight.
The office added: Five minutes after take-off, a distress call was sent from the pilot and lost contact, after which a search plane was sent from the Flight Academy, and the wreckage was located five kilometers north of Al-Thumama Airport.
The concerned security authorities immediately went to the scene of the accident, to find the pilot was dead, and a work team was formed from the Aviation Investigation Office to uncover the circumstances and causes of the accident.
