The Saudi Qiddiya Investment Company announced on Friday that the world’s first amusement park based on the idea of ​​the “Dragon Ball” series of comic books, films and video games will be built in Saudi Arabia.

The company said in a press statement that the park, which revolves around the world of the fictional martial arts player Goku and his friends, will be part of the Qiddiya Investment Project near Riyadh.

The project, which will be built on an area of ​​500,000 square metres, will include touring areas and attractions in seven areas inspired by the Dragon Ball series, in addition to hotels and restaurants.

The stories of the Dragon Ball series began publishing in the Japanese comic magazine Weekly Shonen Jump in 1984, before being turned into films, video games, and television series that are distributed in more than 80 countries.

Its author, Akira Toriyama, a Japanese manga author, died at the age of 68 earlier this month, prompting fans around the world to bid him farewell with memorial ceremonies and memorials.

Saudi Arabia’s efforts to diversify its oil and gas-dependent economy include establishing a number of huge entertainment projects.

The Qiddiya project is being built on a site more than twice the size of Disney World in the US state of Florida, and is also scheduled to include a Six Flags amusement park.
