Saudi Authorities’ Successful Operations: Foiled Drug Smuggling Attempts and Arrests

Riyadh – Saudi authorities have arrested many people and seized large quantities of drugs in operations across the country. A security patrol unit in Sarat Ubaidah Governorate of Asir region foiled an attempt to smuggle 103 kg of khat, while a border guard patrol in Jazan’s Al Arda Governorate foiled a similar attempt to smuggle 80 kg of the drug. Authorities seized 58 kg of khat during a special operation in Jazan. In another move, Riyadh police arrested a Pakistani national and four local nationals for trying to sell hashish, 7,500 amphetamine pills and 10,000 narcotic pills. The authorities confiscated the firearms and ammunition found in the possession of the accused.

Also, officers of the General Directorate of Narcotics Control arrested an Ethiopian national for promoting hashish in violation of the border security system in the Baha region. Preliminary legal proceedings against all those caught were completed and their cases handed over to public prosecutors.
