Saved by her Apple Watch: “I thought I was going to die”

A 39-year-old woman credits her Apple Watch with saving her and her daughter’s life when it warned him that her heart rate was too high.

After being alerted three times by the device, Jessy Kelly, at the end of pregnancy, made the decision to go to the hospital to find out what was wrong.

“I was not doing any physical activity and it told me that I was at 120 beats per minute, she said, in an interview with CNN. When it rang a third time, I was like, ‘OK, something’s wrong.

When she arrived at the scene, she was in labor and was losing a lot of blood due to a ruptured placenta.

“I thought I was going to die,” she says. There were so many doctors around me.”

Three hours later, she gave birth to her daughter, Shelby Marie.

Mrs. Kelly considers herself lucky to have been alerted by her watch.

“Pay attention to its alerts and listen to your body,” she shares.

For his part, cardiologist at Providence Saint-Joseph Hospital in California, Brian Kolski, claims that the connected watch from Apple was indeed able to alert Jessy Kelly of a problem.

“Looks like the alert went well,” he said. An elevated heart rate is one of the first signals when people are low blood pressure or bleeding.

On its website, Apple indicates that although its alert system is present on all models of the watch, it is not perfect and does not replace the advice of a doctor.

“If you feel unwell, contact your doctor, even if you do not receive a notification,” it read.
