A track damage interrupted train traffic on the railway line between Jona SG and Rüti ZH on Wednesday night. All trains are cancelled, as the SBB announced via the rail traffic information.
Lines S14, S5 and S15 are affected. Rail traffic between Rapperswil SG and Zurich is restricted.
The SBB initially assumed that they would be able to rectify the disruption by 12 noon. Now the reopening of the section has been postponed indefinitely.
Geologist must examine site
During regular construction work at night, the track had lowered, as an SBB spokesman said when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency. Now a geologist has to examine the site first.
There is a replacement railway between Rüti and Rapperswil. Passengers can also switch to other routes. The online timetable has been adjusted accordingly. (SDA/noo)
