Here are the scenarios that would allow teams to secure their place in the Stanley Cup playoffs on March 9.
Eastern Association
The Boston Bruins will be guaranteed a playoff spot if:
They defeat the Edmonton Oilers in regulation AND one of the following occurs:
(1) The Ottawa Senators lose to the Seattle Kraken in regulation AND the Buffalo Sabers lose to the Dallas Stars, either way;
(2) The Senators lose to the Kraken in regulation AND any result other than a New York Islanders victory in regulation once morest the Pittsburgh Penguins;
(3) The Islanders lose to the Penguins in regulation AND the Sabers lose to the Stars, either way;
(4) The Islanders lose to the Penguins in regulation AND any result other than a Senators victory in regulation once morest the Kraken.

They defeat the Oilers in overtime AND one of the following occurs:
(1) The Senators lose to the Kraken in regulation AND the Sabers lose to the Stars, either way;
(2) The Senators lose to the Kraken in regulation AND the Islanders lose to the Penguins in regulation;
(3) The Senators lose to the Kraken in regulation AND the Islanders lose to the Penguins in overtime or in the shootout AND any result other than a Sabers victory in regulation once morest the Stars;
(4) The Islanders lose to the Penguins in regulation AND the Sabers lose to the Stars, either way;
(5) The Islanders lose to the Penguins in regulation AND any result other than a Senators victory in regulation or overtime once morest the Kraken AND any result other than a Sabers victory in regulation time once morest the Kraken.

They defeat the Oilers in a shootout AND one of the following scenarios occurs:
(1) The Senators lose to the Kraken in regulation AND the Sabers lose to the Stars, either way;
(2) The Senators lose to the Kraken in regulation AND the Islanders lose to the Penguins in regulation;
(3) The Senators lose to the Kraken in regulation AND the Islanders lose to the Penguins in overtime or in the shootout AND any result other than a Sabers victory in regulation once morest the Stars;
(4) The Islanders lose to the Penguins in regulation AND the Sabers lose to the Stars, either way;
(5) Islanders lose to Penguins in regulation AND Senators lose to Kraken in overtime or shootout AND any result other than Sabers win in regulation once morest Stars.
