The triathlon event was canceled twice due to the corona pandemic, and now the 2021 Ironman has been rescheduled on May 7 of this year in St. George, Utah. Ironman 2022 Hawaii: schedule and dates
3.86 kilometers swimming, 180.2 kilometers cycling and 42.2 kilometers running – these are the distances that the participants of the Ironman cover. The Ironman triathlon competition in Hawaii will take place for the first time in 2022 over two days, October 6th and October 8th. Since a large number of participants is expected, the event has been extended to two days. The many triathletes are due to the 2020 cancellation. All qualifying age group athletes have been given the option to compete at the May 22 start in St. George or compete in Hawaii in October.

October 6, Thursday:
- 18:25 (CET): pro women
- 6:27 p.m.: Paratriathletes
- 7.30 p.m. and in waves until 7 p.m.: all women’s age groups
- 7:25 p.m.: all men over 60 years of age
- 7.35 p.m.: Age group M50-54
- 7:40 p.m.: M25-29
October 8, Saturday:
- 18.25: Professional men
- 6.40 p.m. and in waves until 7 p.m.: all other age group athletes

Triathlon fans can rejoice. The start of the Ironman will be broadcast by the public broadcaster ARD from 6.25 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. live in the sports show. The German triathletes: top stars Jan Frodeno and Patrick Lange
It is currently unclear whether the German three-time winner of the Ironman in Hawaii Jan Frodeno will start. The top star was unable to compete in May as he missed out due to an injury with a partial rupture of the Achilles tendon. According to an Instagram posting, his dream is still to compete in the triathlon in Hawaii. Two-time Hawaii winner Patrick Lange also missed out in St. George in May, after a bicycle accident and shoulder surgery, he didn’t get fit in time. At the Challenge Roth he celebrated his comeback with a 2nd place, which he describes as the best 2nd place of his life, and will compete in Hawaii.
