The peaceful conclusion of a routine morning school run shattered into violence on Monday, 7 September 2026. According to Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, local law enforcement received a distress call regarding a shooting at approximately 08:10 a.m. in the Westbury neighborhood of Johannesburg.
The driver had just finished transporting children to school and was parking his vehicle at a residential flat when the attack occurred. Two unknown men approached the vehicle on foot and opened fire, inflicting multiple gunshot wounds on the victim. Paramedics rushed to the location, but the driver was declared dead at the scene.

Officers from the Sophiatown police station registered a murder case immediately following the incident.
