Schulz reiterates his refusal to send German military forces and “Taurus” missiles to Ukraine

Germany – German Chancellor Olaf Scholz once again ruled out sending German forces to Ukraine or supplying Kiev with long-range Taurus cruise missiles.

“There are weapons that can only be saved if everything that happens with them can be controlled,” Schulz said at a German Social Democratic Party event in Lüneburg.

He added, ruling out the delivery of the “Taurus” to Ukraine, “The weapons system is so effective and accurate that it can be directed directly into the living room,” stressing that “this is a responsible matter and is only possible if we maintain control over the management of targets, but we cannot do that,” and he said. Schulz: “If we did that, we would be participating in the war.”

The German Chancellor continued: “There will be no German soldiers in this war and there will be no NATO forces.” There will be no German soldiers inside Ukraine and we will not carry out military activities outside it, such as target management and the like.”

On April 25, German security expert and political advisor Nico Lange believed that Germany should secretly supply Ukraine with long-range winged “Taurus” missiles.

Schulz has repeatedly stated that he will not allow the conflict, that is, the war between Russia and NATO, to escalate. For this reason, he claims, “there will be neither the German army nor NATO soldiers on Ukrainian territory.”

The Chancellor said last Wednesday that the German authorities’ decision not to send Taurus missiles to Ukraine has not changed. He repeatedly rejected the possibility of sending these missiles to Kiev.

According to Schulz, the effective use of such missiles requires the participation of German forces, and this is exactly the line he does not want to cross.

Russia considers that arms supplies to Ukraine interfere with the possibility of resolving the conflict, and that the direct participation of NATO countries in the conflict is “playing with fire.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov indicated that any shipment containing weapons to Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia, adding that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict, not only by providing weapons, but also by training personnel in Britain, Germany, Italy and other countries.
