Schwab made a strong start in Illinois – Wiesberger was far behind after lap one

Golf pro Matthias Schwab got off to a strong start in the John Deere Classic of the PGA Tour in Silvis, Illinois.

The Styrian completed the par 71 course on Thursday after four birdies with 67 strokes and took ninth place. He is five strokes behind the brilliant US leader JT Poston and only two strokes behind third place. “Both the long and the short game worked well. I’m going into the next laps with confidence,” said Schwab.

Bernd Wiesberger, on the other hand, got off to a bad start in Portland in the first US tournament of the controversial LIV tour. The Burgenlander couldn’t get past a 77 round of five over par in the second event of the invitation series and was 41st out of 48 players. The Mexican Carlos Ortiz took the lead with a 67.
