The oil and gas company, SDX Energy, announced on Monday, September 4, the start of drilling of the Ksiri -21 (“KSR-21”) well at Sebou Central in the Gharb Basin. The vertical development well will be drilled to a planned total depth of approximately 1,950 meters, SDX says, noting that using existing 3D seismic, the well targets a well-defined prospect within the main Hoot Formation, which is the main production of sand in the region. In total, the company has drilled more than 20 production wells in the same basin.

“This new well presents a low-risk expansion location”she says, also stressing that she “can be put into production immediately, supplying gas to existing customers, as part of the gas price improvement announced on June 5, 2023”. SDX will make further announcements as needed.

For SDX CEO Daniel Gould, “The start of drilling marks a first step in SDX’s new roadmap in Morocco, which the Company will present shortly. As part of the Company’s upstream production revitalization, we will assess the feasibility of drilling additional wells, consecutively. This type of program would reduce capital expenditure per well, ensure operational efficiencies, and prove sufficient “gas behind the pipe” reserves to meet current and future demand.
