Monday June 5th marks the start of National Sexual Health Week which will end on June 11th. On the occasion of this high point in the promotion of sexual health, the Ministry of Health and Prevention wishes to raise awareness among the general public of the challenges of a positive and respectful approach to sexuality. The goal is to enable everyone to have pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free from coercion, discrimination and violence.

Coordinated by the Ministry of Health and Prevention and Public Health France at the national level, the week of sexual health is piloted in the regions by the Regional Health Agencies (ARS).

This year, Sexual Health Week will specifically focus on four themes:

  • Prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs);
  • La contraception ;
  • The consent ;
  • Sexual dysfunctions (eg libido disorders, pain, erection problems, etc.).

For this event, Public Health France is organizing a major national communication campaign, accompanied by actions implemented by the ARS throughout the national territory, as close as possible to the public.

This week is also an opportunity to recall the commitment of the Ministry of Health and Prevention in favor of sexual health through new reimbursed devices.

The Pr Christian RabaudDirector General of Health also indicates: “ By supporting Sexual Health Week, we want to encourage open, non-judgmental dialogue about sexual health, and facilitate access to accurate and reliable information. We also emphasize the importance of preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs) as well as contraception.

Sexual Health Week is also an opportunity to promote mutual respect, informed consent and the fight against all forms of discrimination and sexual violence. Everyone has the right to experience fulfilling sexuality in a safe and respectful environment.

Sexual health is a fundamental aspect of overall well-being and quality of life. It concerns not only the physical health, but also the emotional and relational health of each one. Taking into account all the dimensions of human sexuality is completely in line with the missions of the DGS. »
