According to the study titled Ranking of federal entities based on their trend in a selection of crimes during the periods January-October 2018-2023prepared by Jaime Arturo Del Río Monges, researcher at the Belisario Domínguez Institute, Campeche has the highest Average Annual Growth Rate (AMR) in the country in the crime of business robbery with violence, with an increase rate of 59.37%, in the period from 2018 to 2023.

The study explains that in 2018, the neighboring state recorded 89 crimes of this type, in 2022, 231 and in 2023, 226.

Likewise, Campeche occupies second national place with the highest TMCA in the crime of business robbery, but without violence, with an increase in that rate of 193.77%.

In 2018, for example, the state registered 73 complaints for this type of crime and in 2023, 630!

For comparison, the TMCA for that same crime registered a decrease of minus 55.34% in Yucatán.

In 2018, 341 cases were recorded; in 2019, 448; 2020, 81; 2021, 49; 2022, 672 and 2023, 68 cases.

Campeche also occupies first place nationally with the highest TMCA of the crime of vehicle theft 4-wheeled vehicle with violence, with a rate of 116.02%.

In 2018, the complaints filed for this crime in that state were 3; in 2019, 4; 2020, 3; 2021, 4 and in 2022 and 2023, 8 and 14 respectively, right in Muñoz Martínez’s period.

Extortion, car and home theft grows in Campeche,

Campeche also has second place nationally with the highest TMCA of theft of four-wheeled vehicles without violence, with a percentage increase of 5.83%.

Likewise, it has the first place with the highest growth in the Average Annual Growth Rate of the crime of home robbery without violence, with 200.16%.

According to the work of Del Río Monges, in the period from 2018 to 2021, the average number of this crime was 114.5 a yearbut when Muñoz Martínez assumed the leadership of the Campechana police, complaints skyrocketed to 1,060 in 2022 and 919 in 2023.
