Deportivo Cali drew 2-2 against Unión Magdalena at the end of the ninth round of the BetPlay Dimayor II-2022 League, at their stadium in Palmaseca. In a game that became quite even, where they started losing again and adding the expulsion of Teófilo Gutiérrez; later they managed to overcome the situation, but in the end the samariums tied it.
The commitment began with a divided possession of the ball, but the visiting team was the most insistent on the attacking front, disturbing the local defense on several occasions. At minute 9, Diego Chávez executed a corner kick from the southeast sector, the charge closed and hit goalkeeper Miguel Sánchez’s upper left corner.
The Verdiblancos approached on a couple of occasions, but they couldn’t finish. Then at minute 18, Unión recovered a ball in their own field, advanced through the right sector, Jermein Peña crossed, Alain Guerrero headed in the second sector, the rival defenses rejected badly, Diego Chávez finished off, rebounded off an opponent and ended up at the bottom of the the network for 0-1.
While Cali tried to tie the game over 30 minutes, the referee Juan Alba was called by Kéiner Jiménez’s VAR and after reviewing it, he expelled Teófilo Gutiérrez with a direct red card for leaving his leg extended in a split ball with Ricardo Márquez.
Four minutes later, those led by Mayer advanced through the left sector between Christian Mafla and Kevin Velasco. The winger reached the end of the field, crossed to the near post and Ángelo Rodríguez got ahead of the defender, scoring the partial tie. The Caleños approached again with a shot from Velasco, but he went wide; later the samariums responded with a shot from Peña and it was rejected by Sánchez’s vertical right.
For the final stage the venue made two changes. Oscar Segura and Fabry Castró entered, the latter making his debut with the sugar coat and José Lloreda for Nicolas Gil on the visit. During the first moments the ball had a lot of mobility of
one side to the other, more from Unión Magdalena taking advantage of the extra man on the field, but none of them generated a clear scoring chance.
About 56 minutes, Ángelo Rodríguez stole the ball from Ronaldo Lora at the exit of the cyclone, advanced with great speed taking the rival defenders and in front of the goalkeeper Carlos Bejarano, he sent it to save the upper right squad for 2 to 1 partial.
After the entry, the samariums looked for the equalizer, but the rival maintained order in defense and continued with the idea of quickly counterattacking down the wings. Then the technical directors continued to refresh lines, in Cali Adrián Palacios entered for Mafla and in Unión Facundo Stable entered for Alain Guerrero.
In the end the last substitutions were made, Angelo came out to applause for the Verdiblancos and Enrique Camargo came on. In the visit Brayan Correa and Daiver Vega for Chávez and Jairo Palomino. In the last plays, those from Santa Marta put the ball into the area, the Caleños could not reject and Ricardo Márquez scored the final 2-2.
On the next date of the Colombian league, Deportivo Cali will visit América de Cali and Unión Magdalena will host Junior de Barranquilla.
