Sega’s Classic Game Revival: Altered Beast, Eternal Champions, and Kid Chameleon Trademarked for New Releases

At last week’s Game Awards, Sega made an impressive series of announcements, as they confirmed that no less than five oft-requested classic games will be getting new releases at some point in the future. Just a day later, they also revealed that this was just the beginning to bring back more classics.
Fast forward to today, and Gematsu has now noticed that Sega has trademarked more old games, including Altered Beast, Eternal Champions, and Kid Chameleon. All three are previous Sega classics, and while this is definitely not confirmation of any kind – it could give us an idea of what other retro games in the vast Sega library will be resurrected. Another thing that points in this direction is that there were rumors earlier last summer that Sega was working on a new Altered Beast.
Altered beast has been bundled with the Mega Drive for years, so many gamers have a lot of memories from it, and even though it’s not particularly great, it makes sense to bring it back. Eternal Champions is a decent fighting game with very cool characters, and was created as a Sega alternative to Street Fighter II (originally only available on the Super Nintendo). Finally, we have the more obscure Kid Chameleon, a platformer whose theme really feels early ’90s and which we imagine would make a great modern 2.5D adventure today.
