For his part, Dr. Ayman Al-Madani, Operations Manager at SEHA Kidney Care, said that peritoneal dialysis is not a new treatment, but there is a need to raise awareness of its benefits as a treatment that the patient does himself, as peritoneal dialysis enables people to continue their normal lives while receiving treatment. The necessary, by performing peritoneal dialysis at home by the patient himself, or with the help of a health care provider, and does not require repeated visits to the health care center, and this enables patients to continue their lives and live more comfortably.
He added that peritoneal dialysis is a more cost-effective treatment and results because it provides continuous dialysis, allowing patients to control excess fluids in the body and some blood salts more easily while reducing pressure on the heart and blood vessels.
Dr. Ayman Al-Madani explained that through appropriate education and training of patients, peritoneal dialysis is a safe and effective alternative to dialysis, as “SEHA Kidney Care” aims to improve patients’ quality of life by providing treatments that can be more easily integrated into their daily lives.
Speaking about the benefits of peritoneal dialysis, one of the kidney patients, Mac Thomas, said: “When I was diagnosed with kidney disease, I had to go to the clinic more than three times a week and spend hours there while the machine filtered my blood. Peritoneal dialysis, I didn’t have to plan my time around appointments, and I had a great time.
