Selah Sue is back after a long absence: ‘I was on therapy since I was 14 and on antidepressants since I was 18’

Person, his new album released this Friday, March 25, stirs in all directions. Eclectic, it evokes the many facets of a personality as tormented as it is sparkling.

ReasonSelah Sue’s last album before her return with Person released this Friday, March 25, dates back to 2015. Apart from an intimate EP (Bedroom) released in 2020, the young woman had disappeared from radar screens. Suffice to say that we were eagerly awaiting his return. Patience rewarded because Person is an excellent album on which Selah Sue dares even more than before, notably rapping on “Kingdom”, the first track of the disc, which is received like a punch, like the title “Invaincu” which opens Multitude of Stromae. Musically, it goes in all directions like a Prince album. In terms of sounds, too, we find accents dear to the Minneapolis Kid. And when reading the credits, we discover the presence of Mono Neon, alias Dwayne Thomas Jr., Prince’s last bass player. The apple never falls far from the tree.

On this album, Selah Sue reveals the multiplicity of facets that compose her. And the least we can write is that there are people in his head. Meet.

It’s been a long time since we’ve heard from you. Where have you been?
