According to international media reports, Selensky said he was ready to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Jerusalem. Meanwhile, the fight for Kia continues as the confrontation enters its 17th day.
Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly held talks to end the war, but to no avail. Ukraine’s Prime Minister Selensky has said he is ready for talks with Russian Prime Minister Putin. According to international media reports, Selensky called on Israeli Prime Minister Naphtali Bennett to mediate the talks. As the war entered its 17th day, fierce fighting continued in the north-west. Satellite imagery reveals that Russian forces are preparing for a major offensive in Kiev. The Russian army is stationed 25 km from Kia.
The Russian army also reportedly besieged the cities of Kharkiv, Chernivtsi, Sumi and Mariupol. The Russians opened fire on a convoy of women and children in Kiev. Seven people, including a child, were killed, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense tweeted that the incident took place during an attempt to evacuate through a previously agreed route. Satellite images show widespread damage to the city of Mariupol in the southeast. The Ukrainian Armed Forces said two helicopters had been shot down over Kersen Oblast. It is estimated that more than 2.5 million people have already fled Ukraine.
