Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) spoke in an interview with the “press on Sunday” about allegations by the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj during his visit to Kyiv, according to which Austria “accepts dead children for Russian gas”. He also expressed understanding for the delivery of heavy weapons to Ukraine recently decided by Germany. Nehammer pointed out that that Russia is “currently not interested” in peace talks. “So it fits again that Ukraine is being supported with heavy weapons.” He does not see Austria as an immediate military threat, as he told the “Kurier”.
