Self Service Repair: Apple prepares to include M3 Macs without a program

2024-02-29 12:28:44

Three new support documents released by Apple yesterday suggest that the company is about to expand its independent repair program, the Self Service Repairfor Macs equipped with the chip family M3.

Among the machines covered by this expansion (which should come to fruition in the coming days), we have, of course, the most recent versions of the 24-inch iMac and the 14″ and 16″ MacBooks Pro — all announced at the special last October.

Launched in early 2022, the Self Service Repair allows consumers to purchase legitimate parts directly from Apple to perform repairs on their devices themselves. The program also provides all the documents and tools necessary to carry out repairs.

According to MacRumors, in the case of MacBooks Pro, the documents released by Apple cover the repair of the laptop’s bottom cover, as well as the replacement parts needed for this endeavor. In the 24″ iMac case, the documents provide a detailed list of parts needed for various repairs to the screen, logic board, fans, construction and more.

Little by little, Apple’s repair program continues to progress…
