The complaint was filed in a criminal court by deputy Samuel Pérez against the prosecutors. Rafael Curruchiche, Cinthia Monterroso and Leonor Morales.
The three officials were accused of “the crimes of sedition, usurpation of functions due to abuse of authority y disclosure of confidential information“said Pérez, who swore in Arévalo when he assumed power on January 14.
“We have seen that this group of people have led an attempted coup d’état with their actionsthey’ve tried not knowing the election result that was expressed freely and democratically by the people of Guatemala,” he added.
These three prosecutors, who have been sanctioned for corruption by the United States, “They launched an attack against democratic institutions of the country and these crimes cannot go unpunished,” said Pérez.
