SEN reactivates shelter in Costanera Norte after temperature drop

Asuncion, IP Agency.- With the arrival of a cold front yesterday, Wednesday, the National Emergency Secretariat (SEN) reactivated shelters for homeless people.

At the shelter on the Costanera Norte, it was reported that 7 people spent the night there, officials said. The site has capacity for 50 people and the SEN has another shelter in the city of Limpio, which is set up in agreement with a private sector company.

A drop in temperatures is forecast for the coming days, accompanied by southerly winds. Minimum temperatures of between 3° and 7°C are expected at dawn on Friday, August 9, across the country, a situation that will persist over the weekend.

Given these conditions, the institution’s main shelter is being set up, where homeless people are taken. Citizens can report people who need shelter from the cold by calling 911 or by calling (0986) 111-001 and (0985) 235-331.

Beneficiaries receive food, beds, blankets, clothing and personal hygiene items, as well as medical services.
