Senator Manchin Announces $500,000 Funding for Energy Efficiency Improvements in West Virginia Small Businesses

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, announced $500,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development program for West Virginia University and Partner Community Capital. The funding is made possible through the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) and will provide technical assistance to small businesses to advance energy efficiency improvements.

“Investing in our communities spurs economic development and creates good-paying, long term jobs. I’m pleased USDA is supporting the important efforts of West Virginia University and Partner Community Capital to assist small, rural businesses with cost-effective energy efficiency improvements. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for resources to strengthen our local energy systems and ensure small businesses across the Mountain State have what they need to thrive,” said Senator Manchin.

Individual awards listed below:

$250,000 – West Virginia University, Morgantown

This funding will allow West Virginia University to provide forty small businesses with REAP technical assistance services, including developing energy assessments and energy audits.

$250,000 – Partner Community Capital, Charles Town

This funding will allow Partner Community Capital to provide forty small businesses with REAP technical assistance services, including developing energy assessments and applying for grants.
