The amount is historic. Between July 2022 and June 2023, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) has invested $11.5 billion in 40 African countries, the volume largest annual fundraising campaign ever on the continent. Last year, IFC provided $9.4 billion for private sector development in Africa.

This support from the World Bank subsidiary includes, in particular, $1.12 billion for trade financing, $876 million dedicated energy transition in Africa, and $1.98 billion to help small businesses grow and create jobs. IFC has also invested $1.76 billion to strengthen digital connectivity, the development of telecommunication towers, access to broadband and mobile Internet.
