Senegal: justice confirms the sentence of Barthélémy Dias, mayor of Dakar, to two years in prison, including six months firm

In Senegal, the deliberation was delivered this Wednesday, September 21, 2022 in the morning in the appeal trial of Barthélémy Diaz, now deputy and mayor of Dakar, in the case of the death in 2011 of Ndiaga Diouf, supposed thug of the Senegalese Democratic Party. The justice confirms the judgment rendered at first instance in 2017. Barthélémy Dias had been sentenced to two years, including six months. A sentence he has already served. The deputy mayor of Dakar was absent this morning during the reading of the deliberations at 9 a.m. UT at the courthouse, where a large force of defense and security forces was deployed. Absent also, the deputies of his coalition Yewwi Askan Wi who had promised to come and support him.
