Senegal: Morocco takes part in Kaolack in a meeting on the occasion of the International Day of Al-Quds

Dakar – His Majesty the King’s Ambassador to Senegal, Mr. Hassan Naciri, along with a delegation of heads and representatives of Arab and Islamic diplomatic missions accredited to Senegal, took part in the International Day of Al -Quds, organized each year under the patronage of the Caliph General of the Tidjane family, Mouhamadou Mahi Ibrahima Niass, in the city of Kaolack, located 230 km from Dakar.

The participation of the Arab delegation, which was received by the Caliph General, was marked by the presence of the Charge d’Affaires of Palestine in Senegal, Haitam Khalili, heads and representatives of the Iraqi, Mauritanian, Syrian and Sudanese missions, as well as representatives of the Al Azhar Acharif Foundation.

Speaking on this occasion, the Caliph General of Tidjanes hailed the Arab and Islamic commitment to the cause of Al-Quds Acharif, praising the great role played by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as Chairman of the Committee Al-Quds.

For his part, the head of the organizing committee of this meeting, Cheikh Bay Mamoun Ibrahima Niass, highlighted the historical role and the clear and constant positions of the Kingdom of Morocco with regard to Al-Quds and the Palestinian cause.

For their part, the delegations participating in this meeting stressed the centrality of the Palestinian cause and of Al-Quds Acharif, expressing their support for this cause and for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to realize their aspirations and their right to build a independent state.

In a speech for the occasion, HM the King’s Ambassador recalled Morocco’s constant position concerning the Palestinian cause, which he considers as a national cause, and in particular places Al-Quds at the forefront of his concerns, as evidenced by the continuous efforts made by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, for the protection of the Islamic Holy Sites in Al-Quds Acharif.

The diplomat evoked, in this regard, three milestones of the Moroccan position vis-à-vis the question of Al-Quds.

The first stage was the holding of the Islamic Summit in 1969 in Morocco at the initiative of the late HM King Hassan II, following the events of the burning of the Holy Al-Aqsaa Mosque, which marked the creation of the Organization of Islamic Conference, now the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), he explained.

The second step is the election of the late HM King Hassan II in 1979, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, he said, noting that His Majesty King Mohammed VI then took over the chairmanship of the Al-Quds Committee. -Quds and continued to defend the Holy City in international bodies, including the United Nations.

These efforts led in 1998 to the establishment of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency which, in accordance with the High Royal Directives, aims to provide economic, cultural and social support to the Maqdess populations thanks to funding granted by Morocco. at a rate of 98%.

Mr. Hassan Naciri also highlighted the strong ties that unite this Senegalese Sufi family to the Glorious Alaouite Throne, underlining the strong relations existing between the Niass family and Morocco.

He also recalled the contribution of this large Senegalese Sufi family to the glorious Green March through the participation of a delegation led by the Hajj Abdallah Ibrahim Niass and the late Savant Ibrahim Job in particular at this national event, highlighting the cultural links and the relations it maintains with Moroccan scholars, particularly in the city of Fez.
