Rodolfo Jesús Brizuela Machado, 37, and Oliver Jacot Bolívar Marrero, 35, were sentenced to 27 years in prison after being found guilty of kidnapping two cocoa farmers in Miranda state.
It all happened on July 30, 2020, when the victims were traveling in their vehicle to the town of El Clavo to meet and negotiate the purchase of cocoa through a company owned by Brizuela, the Public Ministry (MP) published.
Since then, an employee of the producers reported his disappearance to the headquarters of the Higuerote Scientific, Penal and Criminal Investigations Corps.
The investigations determined that Brizuela Machado and Bolívar Marrero were involved in the incident and were arrested by officials of the National Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Command of the Bolivarian National Guard.
In the trial, the 94th and 46th national prosecutors ratified the accusation against those today convicted of the crimes of kidnapping, criminal association and theft of motor vehicles.
Once the means and evidence presented by the prosecutors in the case had been evaluated, the 3rd Trial Court of the Metropolitan Area of Caracas issued the aforementioned sentence against Brizuela Machado and Bolívar Marrero, who will serve their sentences in the El Rodeo II Judicial Confinement Center, located in Guatire, Miranda state.
