This is the first time since 2009 that Serge Ibaka will play elsewhere than in America. In the NBA, the Congolese-Spanish player established himself as one of the best defenders and storytellers in the League with the Oklahoma City Thunder, while winning a championship title with the Toronto Raptors in 2019. But in recent years, he saw his role and impact diminish more and more (4.1 points and 2.8 rebounds on average in 2022-23), until he became a player at the end of the bench. Last January, Ibaka was traded from the Bucks to the Pacers, who cut him immediately.
At Bayern, at 33, Serge Ibaka will try to relaunch himself by rubbing shoulders with the highest European level. Potentially to return to the NBA next?
